Walking L Thoroughbreds and Three Chimneys Farm's multiple graded stakes-winning mare Envoutante leads a field of six fillies and mares that were entered in the Sept. 17 1 1/16-mile, $400,000 Locust Grove Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. Trained by Kenny McPeek, Envoutante finished third in last year's Locust Grove behind former Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Shedaresthedevil .
Envoutante has recorded four of her six lifetime victories beneath the Twin Spires and most notably has won the last two runnings of the Falls City Stakes (G2) at the Louisville, Ky., track's fall meet. She is 6-2-5 in 18 career starts, having earned $977,858.
She has only run twice this year, including a distant fourth out of four in the Beholder Mile Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park.
Another top entrant in the Locust Grove is multiple stakes winner Li'l Tootsie . The 4-year-old daughter of Tapiture recently won the $125,000 Groupie Doll Stakes for owner Joel Politi and trainer Tom Amoss. Li'l Tootsie has seven lifetime victories from 17 starts with $532,874 in earnings. She is coming into Saturday with back-to-back victories: the Groupie Doll at Ellis Park and the Anchorage Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs.
The field for the Locust Grove from the rail out is Gold Spirit , Envoutante, Crazy Beautiful , Li'l Tootsie, Played Hard , and Princess of Cairo .
