The first seven-figure horse of the second day of Book 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale broke through in a big way Sept. 15 when Donato Lanni went to $1.7 million to land a Quality Road colt about 3 1/2 hours into Thursday's proceedings.
Sold as Hip 886, the colt was consigned by Nardelli Sales, agent. Out of winning Street Sense mare Act Now , the bay colt boasts a deep family that includes multiple grade 2 winner Fed Biz and grade 1 winner Joking .
The colt, who will be sent to trainer Bob Baffert, is tied for the third-highest-priced yearling at the sale so far.
