Lady Speightspeare continued her stakes-winning streak when she took the Sept. 17 Seaway Stakes (G3) going seven-furlongs over the all weather track at Woodbine.
The 4-year-old daughter of Speightstown sat fifth in the nine horse field after leaving the gate with Hai Bobbi off to the lead and Emmeline in second through early fractions of :22.82 and :45.46.
Switching gears as the final turn approached, Lady Speightspeare, under Emma-Jayne Wilson moved into the lead past the six-furlong marker in 1:09.37.
The Roger Attfield trainee crossed the wire in 1:21.19, 3/4 of a length safe of Hazelbrook.
It was another half-length back to Souper Sensational .
Lady Speightspeare paid $4.90 on a $2 win ticket and improved her record to 7-1-2 from 12 starts. Her earnings increased to $581,145.
The filly was victorious in her last two starts including the July 2 Nassau Stakes (G2) and the Aug. 13 Trillium Stakes (G3), both over the Toronto oval.
She was bred in Kentucky by her owner Charles Fipke out of the multiple graded stakes-winning Theatrical mare Lady Shakespeare . The dam has four winners from four foals to race. She also has a 2-year-old More Than Ready colt named Ready Shakespeare and a yearling Bee Jersey filly. She was barren for the 2022 season and was bred back to Seeking the Soul for 2023.
