That's Right wins the Turf Monster Stakes at Parx Racing
That's Right provided a big win for the home team when streaking to a frontrunning score in the Sept. 24 $300,000 Turf Monster Stakes (G3T). The victory was monumental for each of his connections as he provided his owner, trainer, and jockey with the first graded stakes victory of their careers.
After failing to find the winner’s circle in his first six starts on the dirt, Parx Racing-based trainer Michael Moore tried the 3-year-old son of Goldencents —Cat Ten, by Greatness, on the turf to see flawless finishes in four of his last five starts with his only blemish coming in a sixth place finish when tackling Saratoga competition in the Aug. 14 Mahony Stakes.
With the late scratch of Rainbow Heir Stakes victor Nothing Better , That’s Right rocketed from the gate under Andy Hernandez as the 5-2 betting favorite. With no one posing an early threat, That’s Right proceeded to cruise around the Parx oval, ripping off a :22.42 opening quarter. Rounding the turn, Hernandez asked the colt for more and he dashed for home, holding sway by 1 1/2 lengths over a late rally from Boat's a Rockin .
Longshot Dr. Duke held third by a neck over Grooms All Bizness .
Running for the silks of James Shannon Jr., That’s Right ($7.40) raced the five furlongs on a firm turf course in :57.66.
That's Right earned his first stakes win in similar fashion in July when landing the My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park. He has now earned $318,400 from 11 starts.
