The Lowdown: This a real treasure at an affordable price. The cobblestone drive leads up to the hotel, which is an old tobacco factory. It’s located right on the water, so you’ll be able to unwind and enjoy some tranquility after a raucous day at the races. And while the Black-Eyed Susan is the official drink of the Preakness, you have to try the famous house sangria at some point during your stay. If you really hit it big on Preakness Day, you can even hire a private butler for the remainder of your stay … Baller!

Place: Admiral Fell Inn
The Rate: $189
The Lowdown: This hotel has strong ties to Baltimore’s nautical traditions. It was built in Fell’s Point, a major shipbuilding center in the 1730s. In addition to its historical ties, the budget price leaves plenty of money in the bank to splurge on some of the city’s famous crab cakes. A Baltimore attraction is right down the road, as well – The Horse You Came In On Saloon is one of the last spots that Edgar Allen Poe was seen alive.
