Prince A. A. Faisal's Mishriff , a multiple group 1 winner best known worldwide for defeating Charlatan in the 2021 Saudi Cup (G1), will enter stud at Sumbe's Haras de Montfort et Préaux in France in 2023.
The 5-year-old son of Make Believe is currently in training with John and Thady Gosden, pointed for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) Oct. 2. He could potentially race in a Breeders' Cup race Nov. 5 at Keeneland.
Although winless in five starts this year, Mishriff has been competitive in all of his races since the 2022 Saudi Cup, where he ran 14th in February at King Abdulaziz Racecourse. Since then, he has earned minor prizes in top company, most recently running fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes (G1) at Leopardstown.
The breakout year for Mishriff was 2021, when he captured the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic (G1T) after winning the Saudi Cup on dirt. Later in the year, he added another turf win in the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) at York.
In 2020 he captured the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) in France, which Sumbe referenced in a Sept. 27 press release as "the ultimate stallion-making race."
Bred in Ireland by Nawara Stud Limited out of the Raven's Pass mare Contradict , Mishriff is related to two other black-type horses, including French listed stakes winner Orbaan .
A stud fee was not announced.
