Awesome Strong, Lynx Look to Sweep Florida Divisions

CSLR Racing Partners' Awesome Strong  will have the opportunity to become the 10th horse to sweep the colts and geldings division of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series in the Oct. 1 $400,000 In Reality Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The In Reality, the 1 1/16-mile finale of the 2022 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series for juveniles sired by accredited Florida stallions, will co-headline Saturday's program with the $400,000 My Dear Girl, the 1 1/16-mile FFS series for fillies in which Arindel's Lynx  will also seek a sweep of her division.

The colts and geldings and filly divisions have not been swept in the same year since the series' inception in 1982.

Awesome Strong is undefeated in three career starts, which include dominating victories in the $100,000 Dr. Fager and the $200,000 Affirmed that have given him a chance to sweep the FFS colts and geldings series.

Awesome Strong has been installed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite in a field of 12 colts and geldings. The son of Awesome Slew   debuted May 6 when he overcame early traffic and drew off to win a 4 1/2-furlong maiden race by six lengths. 

The In Reality will be Awesome Strong's first start around two turns.

Arindel's Turbo , who finished second in both the Dr. Fager and the Affirmed, is rated second at 4-1 in the In Reality morning line. The Juan Alvarado-trained Brethren   colt, who finished an even second in the Dr. Fager, closed from eighth with a six-wide rally to get the place, four lengths clear of the third-place finisher.

Arindel will also be represented in the In Reality by Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Knox , another son of Brethren who bypassed the Affirmed after finishing a late-closing fourth in the Dr. Fager. 

Rounding out the field are Apocalypso , Hard to Handle , Fifty One Fifty , Cajun Hope , Rockin Roller , Tigre , Belts 'n Brooks , Commandant , and Diamond Cool .

Undefeated Lynx Sets Sights on My Dear Girl

Arindel's Lynx is scheduled to put her undefeated record on the line in Saturday's $400,000 My Dear Girl while looking to pull off a sweep of the fillies division of the 2022 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series.

The My Dear Girl is the 1 1/16-mile fillies finale of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series for juveniles sired by accredited Florida stallions.

Carlos David-trained Lynx has pounced on her competition in the stretch in all three career starts, closing strongly to win her debut before dominating her rivals in the first two legs of the FSS series, the $100,000 Desert Vixen at six furlongs and the $200,000 Susan's Girl at seven furlongs.

Lynx is the 8-5 morning-line favorite in a field of 10 fillies.

Jacks or Better Farm's Guardian Angel  enters the My Dear Girl as a two-start maiden but is coming off a second-place finish behind Lynx in the Susan's Girl, in which she overcame bumping at the start to take the lead in the stretch, only to fall victim to Lynx's strong late surge. 

Guardian Angel is a half sister to Sing Praises, who captured the 2014 FSS In Reality at 1 1/16 miles, as well as the six-furlong FSS Dr. Fager. 

The rest of the field includes Time Passage , who will be equipped with blinkers for the first time; Dreaming in Style ; Atomically ; Cajun Tease ; High Fashion Lady ; Dorth Vader ; Marvelous Lady ; and Sherlyn Go Go .
