My Happiness wins the Iowa Sorority Stakes at Prairie Meadows

My Happiness  continued her success for her sire Bee Jersey   Oct. 1, carrying on from her status as the Darby Dan Farm stallion's first North American winner to become his first black-type winner with a victory in the $100,000 Iowa Sorority Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

With Kylee Jordan in the irons for breeder/owner Christine Hicklin, who also trains the filly, My Happiness tracked fifth and then fourth in the six-furlong dirt test for juvenile fillies as favored Bonnieview  went a quarter in :22.84 and a half in :46.47. She crept closer four wide late on the turn, went to battle for the lead a furlong out, and gamely prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths over the pacesetter.

The final time was 1:11.29 on a fast track.

My Happiness returned $5.40 for a $2 win ticket and improved her record to two wins and a third from four starts, with earnings of $99,384. She was produced from the Yonaguska mare Mayfield Road

Bee Jersey, winner of the 2018 Runhappy Metropolitan Handicap (G1) and Steve Sexton Mile Stakes (G3), won five of 10 starts in his career and banked $976,293. In the Metropolitan, the son of Jersey Town   stopped the clock for a mile in 1:33.13, defeating Mind Your Biscuits  by a nose. Out of the stakes-placed Rahy mare Bees , he is from the family of Weekend Surprise, dam of classic winners A.P. Indy and Summer Squall. He stood the 2022 season for an advertised fee of $5,000.
