Darley Duo Targets New Year's Aqueduct Stakes

Trainer Tom Albertrani figures to be looking forward to 2014 as he will send out the morning-line favorites in both stakes races Jan. 1 at Aqueduct Racetrack.
The nine-race New Year's Day card Wednesday at Aqueduct spotlights fillies and mares with the 1 1/16-mile Affectionately Stakes, where Albertrani will saddle 8-5 choice Centring; and the six-furlong Interborough Stakes, where Albertrani sends out 2-1 choice Delightful Quality.
In the Affectionately, scheduled as the third race on the card, Darley Stable's Centring will try to secure the first stakes win of her career when she breaks from the rail against four other fillies and mares. An initial stakes win has eluded the A.P. Indy mare who will make her 6-year-old season debut after starts in six straight graded stakes.
Centring placed in five of those six graded stakes efforts in 2013, including three third-place finishes in grade I races.
In the Interborough, Darley's Delightful Quality will try to secure a trip to the winner's circle after closing her 4-year-old season with three straight runner-up finishes. The daughter of Elusive Quality enters Wednesday's test off a second-place finish to Ullapool in the Garland of Roses Stakes Dec. 7 at Aqueduct.
