

Grade 1 winner and second-crop sire Midnight Storm has been relocated from Kentucky to Milky Way Farm near Temecula, Calif., the farm announced Oct. 8. He will stand next year for $4,000 with a live foal guarantee.
The 11-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile raced initially as a homebred for Alex Venneri and Majorie Post Dye. He became a graded stakes winner at 3 when he won the Del Mar Derby (G2T) and went on to win graded stakes on turf and dirt. At five he won the Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T), Eddie Read Stakes (G2T), and the Del Mar Mile Handicap (G2T) and was third in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T). He ended 2016 with a win on the dirt in the Native Diver Stakes (G3) at Del Mar. At 6, he won the San Pasqual Stakes (G2) and was runner-up in the Santa Anita Handicap Presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino (G1) and Awesome Again Stakes (G1). He concluded his career for owners A Venneri Racing and Little Red Feather Racing with earnings of $1,783,110, compiled with a 10-5-2 record from 27 starts.
Midnight Storm has sired 34 winners that include Canadian Derby (G3) winner Great Escape and Puerto Rican listed stakes winner Senor Testaferro .
