Love Reigns wins the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga Race Course

Stonestreet Stables' Love Reigns  looks to continue her North American success as she headlines a field of 11 2-year-olds in the $250,000 Indian Summer Stakes presented by Keeneland Select Oct. 9.

The 5 1/2-furlong race at Keeneland is a Breeders'' Cup Challenge contest, giving the victor paid entry in the Nov. 4 $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) at the Lexington track.

Love Reigns broke her maiden on the Keeneland turf April 29 before shipping to Ascot Racecourse, where she finished fourth in the June 15 Queen Mary Stakes (G2). In that debut at Keeneland, she rolled by 9 3/4 lengths on the final day of the track's spring meet.

The daughter of U S Navy Flag  came back to the United States to win the Aug. 21 Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. In that race, she wrestled the lead away from a fading Sweet Harmony  at the top of the stretch, ultimately winning by 2 1/2 lengths over Danse Macabre

Love Reigns, the 4-5 morning-line favorite in Sunday's race, is trained by Wesley Ward, who has won the Indian Summer twice—in 2021 with Averly Jane  and 2019 with Kimari .

Irad Ortiz Jr., who was in the irons for all three of Love Reigns' previous runs, is replaced by Paco Lopez. Ortiz has eight mounts Sunday at Aqueduct Racetrack, including heavily favored Nest  in the Beldame Stakes (G2).

The Steve Asmussen-trained Private Creed  comes in as the 9-2 second choice. The Jimmy Creed   colt has also won two of his first three starts. Private Creed broke his maiden on first asking at Ellis Park July 30, and after a third in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga, he won the Global Tote Juvenile Sprint at Kentucky Downs by three-quarters of a length over Sharp Aza Tack .

Another contender is Mounsieur Coco  (Bolt d'Oro  ). Trained by Fausto Gutierrez, he has run three times, all at Gulfstream Park. After breaking his maiden on second asking, he followed up with a win in the Aug. 28 Proud Man Stakes.  He has not yet run on turf.

No Nay Hudson , another Ward trainee, is pegged at 8-1 odds. This will be his second time running at Keeneland after breaking his maiden locally on dirt April 28. He ran his second outing on dirt, a fourth-place showing in the Tremont Stakes, then switched to turf his last time out and came in second in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga.

The field is rounded out by Mo Stash  (15-1), Ghent  (20-1), Numero Seis  (20-1), Bourbon Therapy  (30-1), Castelmola  (30-1), Kbcya Later  (30-1), and Revere Note  (50-1).
