The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (OTBO) Association is proud to announce the annual Mixed Thoroughbred Sale to be held at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The sale will start at 2:30 PM. The grounds are open for previews/inspections at 12:00 PM on Oct. 18.

This year, there are a record-setting 120 entries with a wide variety of outstanding prospects. Weanlings, yearlings, 2-year-olds and broodmares complete the make-up of the catalog, with 74 yearlings and 23 weanlings leading the way. The 2022 edition of the sale includes a 36-entry dispersal from Ohio's historic Mapleton Thoroughbred Farm, who has been atop Ohio's accredited program as breeder and owner for many years.

The future is bright for the yearlings/weanlings catalogued, as several of them are half siblings to already-successful stakes winners both inside and outside of the Ohio program. Hip numbers 2 and 5 (both by Cowtown Cat  ) are the accredited yearling half brother and weanling half sister to multiple graded stakes winner and grade 1-placed, Special Reserve  (out of Mapleton-owned mare, Love Spun).

Near the mid-point of the catalog, you'll find Hip 41, the yearling half brother to 2021 Ohio champion 2-year-old colt Thedayofthegrey  (out of Sharon's Way), and Hip 46, the accredited yearling half brother to Back to Ohio  (out of Sheza Runaway Star), a recent multiple stakes-winning 2-year-old filly in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Hip 79 is a yearling half sister to Oil Money  (out of Cryptocandiac), a multiple stakes winner in both the U.S. and Canada. At the very end of the sale, in our supplement, we have a yearling colt by the red hot sire Oscar Performance   to round out what we anticipate will be an outstanding sale for both buyers and sellers.

The Ohio program offers year-round racing at three outstanding venues—Jack Thistledown Racino (Cleveland), Belterra Park Gaming (Cincinnati), and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Racecourse (in Youngstown). There are 43 stakes held annually for Ohio-breds with purses totaling over $3.5 million distributed.
