Description:

The black-eyed Susan – the flower associated with all things Preakness week – is not only the name of the day before Preakness, but the official flower of Maryland and the name of the Preakness’s signature drink.

Some people craft up their cocktail with St. Germain (an elderflower liquor) and others with Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, rum and even bourbon.
The most important thing isn’t how you make it, but that you enjoy it with fun people and a great weekend of racing!
Watch below as I show you how to make the official black-eyed Susan recipe I found on the Preakness website.

The official 2015 black-eyed Susan recipe calls for:
1 1/2 oz Finlandia Vodka
1/2 oz St. Germain
2 oz Pineapple Juice
1/4 oz Lime Juice
3/4 oz Orange Juice
Orange Slice for garnish
Obviously, you can’t forget my favorite part – the PREAKNESS GLASS!

Below are the 2013 and 2012 variations of the second jewel’s cocktail:

2012:

They’re all similar, but slightly different so if you’re having a watch party make whichever you prefer and for those of you drinking them at Pimlico – I’ll see you there. Cheers!
Let me know which is your favorite!
