Secret Oath, Taiba Breeze Ahead of Breeders' Cup

Briland Farm's Secret Oath  continued her preparations for a start in the Nov. 5 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) when she breezed five-furlongs in :58.80 the morning of Oct. 24 over the main track at Churchill Downs.

The 3-year-old filly, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, has not hit the wire first since her victory in the May 6 Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1). Her last three starts include runner-up finishes in the July 23 Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) and Aug. 20 Alabama Stakes (G1), and a third last out in the Sept. 24 Cotillion Stakes (G1).

Her record sits at 5-2-3 from 12 starts with earnings of $1,708,417.

The daughter of Arrogate  will head to the Fasig-Tipton's 'Night of the Stars' Sale as a racing/broodmare prospect following the World Championships. She is consigned as Hip 231 with Bluewater Sales.

Across the country, Bob Baffert trainee Taiba worked six-furlongs over the main track at Santa Anita Park in 1:11.40 for Zedan Racing Stables.

The 3-year-old son of Gun Runner   is headed to the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). He will arrive off of a score in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) where he finished ahead of Cyberknife  , Zandon , and Simplification .

Also breezing over the main track at the West Coast oval for Baffert was Distaff hopeful Midnight Memories  who went four-furlongs in :48.60, and possible NetJets Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) contender Huntingcoco  who clocked four-furlongs in :49.80.
