Avenue de France and Going Global finished one-two in the Mabee Stakes at Del Mar.

It's Ireland vs. France in the rubber match between Going Global  and Avenue de France . The two swapped victories at Del Mar, and they are slated to meet again in the $200,000 Goldikova Stakes (G2T) going a mile on turf at Santa Anita Oct. 29.

Irish-bred Going Global has more stakes wins and defeated French-bred Avenue de France by three lengths in the Aug. 13 Yellow Ribbon Handicap (G2T) at 1 1/16 miles while conceding six pounds to her rival. Avenue de France then upset Going Global by a half-length while getting just two pounds in the Sept. 10 John C. Mabee Stakes (G2T) at 1 1/8 miles. They both carry equal high weight of 126 in the Goldikova.

Phil D'Amato, leading trainer at the current Santa Anita meeting, conditions Going Global, who won the Royal Heroine Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita earlier this year and took last year's Goldikova, run at Del Mar. D'Amato says that the Goldikova will be Going Global's final race before she is offered at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Night of the Stars Sale Nov. 6.

"Hopefully, we can send her out a winner," D'Amato said.

Umberto Rispoli is set to ride the 4-year-old daughter of Mehmas  for the partnership of CYBT, Michael Dubb, Saul Gevertz, Michael Nentwig, and Ray Pagano.

Leonard Powell trains Avenue de France, a 5-year-old daughter of Cityscape , and he has named Juan Hernandez to ride from post 4. Powell's wife, Mathilde, owns Avenue de France with the Benowitz Family Trust, Convergence Stables, Madaket Stables, and Wonder Stables.

"She's got a very good turn of foot," Powell said after the Mabee. "She caught Going Global flat footed at the three-eighths and when Going Global came at her she re-rallied."

D'Amato will also saddle Burgoo Alley , who finished fourth in the Yellow Ribbon and fifth in the Mabee under Ramon Vazquez, back aboard from post 2. Burgoo Alley won last year's Autumn Miss Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita at a mile.

The remaining three in the Goldikova field include England's Rose , winner of last year's one-mile Swingtime Stakes at Santa Anita. Victor Espinoza will ride from post 3 for trainer John Shirreffs.

"The mile and the grass here suits her, and she seems to bounce back really well," Shirreffs said.

In her most recent start, England's Rose ran third at a mile in the Wilshire Stakes (G3T) to Canoodling  and Eddie's New Dream .

Cover Version  (Ryan Curatolo, post 1), with 42 lifetime starts, is by far the most experienced in the field and the oldest, at 7. She ran third in the Aug. 28 Rancho Bernardo Handicap (G3) at 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt at Del Mar.

Karakatsie  (Joe Bravo, post 6) spent the early part of her career at Gulfstream Park. George Papaprodromou trains the 4-year-old filly, who has two stakes-placings at Gulfstream but was unplaced in three Del Mar outings. This will be her first start at Santa Anita.
