Presque Isle Downs canceled racing Oct. 27 "in the interest of safety," according to a spokesperson for track operator Churchill Downs Inc. Daily Racing Form reported the cancellation was made after the track received "a credible terroristic threat" against the track's riders just hours before the card was to begin, citing unnamed backstretch sources.

Tonya Abeln, vice president of corporate communications for CDI, did not provide specific comment related to the Daily Racing Form report, writing in an email, "We are unable to provide further details due to an ongoing investigation on the matter."

Following discussion with Pennsylvania Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association and the Pennsylvania Racing Commission, the decision "was made not to make up the day since most of the horsemen has plans to travel elsewhere given it was the final day of the meet," she wrote.

The track had no closing-day carryovers impacted by the decision to cancel, she indicated.
