Betting the Peter Pan on a Budget

Betting a five-horse field and turning a significant profit can be a daunting task. That's the challenge that awaits you if you wager on the $200,000, Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes Saturday at Belmont Park. Still, I'm fairly confident that I've found a combination that might yield a decent return on a $20 budget.
First, let's talk contenders. Wolf Man Rocket, trained by Kentucky Dery-winning trainer Bob Baffert for owner Frank Fletcher, comes off of a very impressive win in the $100,000 Northern Spur Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Wolf Man Rocket didn't have a very smooth departure from the gate, which left him at the back of the pack and forced him to chase the pace while extremely wide into the first turn and for most of the way around the track. But in the late stages, Wolf Man Rocket rallied up and past the loose pacesetter, Hillbilly Royalty, while no other horse in the field gained ground on the horse who led most of the race.
Another interesting horse is Two Weeks Off for Starlight Racing and trainer Todd Pletcher. In 2004, Starlight and Pletcher won the Peter Pan with Purge. This year, they've got another good chance with Two Weeks Off. A lightly raced son of Harlan's Holiday, Two Weeks Off sat just off of the pacesetter last out in an allowance race at Keeneland and then, under an easy hand ride by John Velasquez, blew the field away by 6 1/2 lengths. His final winning time wasn't overly impressive but the margin of victory, combined with his demonstration of early speed was more than eye-opening.
The others in the race are just a little slower and far more dependent on a fast pace up front - which won't happen here. Those runners include Madefromlucky, a perpetual chaser of American Pharoah who was twice defeated while prepping in Arkansas. There's also Conquest Curlinate, runner up in the Grade 3 Illinois Derby, and Grade 3 Gotham Stakes runner-up Tiz Shea D.
Simply put, this looks like a two-horse race between likely pacesetter Two Weeks Off and Wolf Man Rocket. While both will be short prices, I'd suggest betting the following and potentially being able to triple your $20 investment.
