Fans cheer during racing Nov. 4 at Keeneland

The first full-throttle Breeders' Cup Friday since before the COVID-19 pandemic saw record wagering Nov. 4 at Keeneland.

All-sources handle for the 10-race Friday program of the 39th Breeders' Cup World Championships was $66,141,766, up 7% over the previous Friday record of $61,696,893 last year at Del Mar.

The Future Stars Friday card featured five Breeders' Cup races for 2-year-olds, the fifth year of carding all of the juvenile races on the same day since the event expanded to its two-day format in 2007.

Friday's on-track attendance was 39,851 amid unseasonably warm fall weather with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 70s.

On-track handle was $7,504,265, the fifth highest Friday for on-track betting since the inception of the two-day format in 2007, and the highest since the record $9,280,504 in 2017 at Del Mar.
