Champion Shamrock Rose  lit up the sales ring Nov. 7 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, selling for $3 million to KI Farm.

The 7-year-old daughter of First Dude earned nearly $1 million and won the 2018 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Churchill Downs. Consigned as Hip 170 by Lane's End, she is believed to be in foal to Curlin  .

Buyer Tomoyuki Nakamura, speaking through interpreter Sean Toriumi, said the mare's physical and race record stood out, along with her covering sire.

"Right now we're deciding whether or not to take her back to Japan or leave her in the states, but there are a lot of options for us (where future matings are concerned)," he said.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Best A Luck Farm out of the Elusive Quality mare Slew's Quality, Shamrock Rose was a $120,000 purchase by Conrad Farms from Best A Luck's consignment to the 2017 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. She ran to a 5-2-2 record from 15 starts for Conrad and trainer Mark Casse.

Agent Mike Shannon went to $2.5 million to acquire Shamrock Rose in 2019 at The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton's marquee breeding stock sale near Lexington, where she was consigned by Bluewater Sales. Her first foal, a War Front   colt, brought $175,000 from Ingordo Bloodstock at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale this season, and she produced a Nyquist   colt in 2022. She is a half sister to the Hard Spun   filly Loyalty, a two-time stakes winner this year.
