

Gainesway announced Nov. 10 that Olympiad , who finished second in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), has retired and will stand stud for an advertised fee of $35,000, live foal stands and nurses.
The farm had previously announced plans for the five-time graded stakes winner to join its roster of stallions. He is available for inspection at Gainesway.
The 4-year-old son of Speightstown ends his racing career 8-2-1 over 13 career starts with earnings of $3,027,560. In his final year of racing, the Bill Mott trainee went 6-1-0 in eight starts, earning $2,862,120 for his owners Grandview Equine, Cheyenne Stables, and LNJ Foxwoods.
In his final year of racing, Olympiad won the Mineshaft Stakes (G3) in a record time of 1:42.01. He also added wins in the New Orleans Classic Stakes (G2), Stephen Foster Stakes (G2), Alysheba Stakes Presented by Sentient Jet (G2), and the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1).

He closed out his career rallying from fifth to finish second in the Breeders' Cup Classic to the unbeaten Flightline , leaving Mott proud of Olympiad's performance
"How could you be more pleased? We're here on the wrong year. His race would have won some other Classics," the Hall of Famer trainer said after the race.
Setbacks earlier in his career denied Olympiad a chance at pursuing the Triple Crown. After running twice as a 2-year-old, he did not run again until near the end of this 3-year-old season.
"When you get a good 2-year-old that you think might be on the Derby trail and you have a setback, you just have to take the attitude that he's getting the time he needs," Grandview Equine's Robert Clay told New York Racing Association publicity earlier this year.
Out of the Medaglia D'oro mare Tokyo Time , Olympiad sold at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $700,000 out of the Gainesway consignment to Alex Solis II and Jason Litt of Solis-Litt Bloodstock, who select horses for Olympiad's ownership.
