Creative Cairo breaks her maiden in 2021 at Aqueduct Racetrack

A trio of horses lead the charge into Woodbine for the 1 1/4-mile, CA$150,000 Maple Leaf Stakes (G3) on the Tapeta Nov. 12. 

The race for older fillies and mares features the favorite Transient , who is making her fourth start at Woodbine. She broke her maiden there last year and is now coming off her second career win, an allowance race at the Belmont at the Big A meet in September. The daughter of Sea The Stars  is 3-1.

At 7-2, Creative Cairo  appears to be rounding into form after a second-place finish in an allowance optional claiming race at the Belmont at the Big A meet. She is trained by Christophe Clement and is 1-1-0 from six starts this year.

The third favorite, at 4-1, is Charges Dropped . Trained by Michael McCarthy, Charges Dropped has two graded stakes starts to her résumé. Last year, she finished eighth in the American Oaks (G1) at Santa Anita Park. Then, this year, she ran seventh in the Santa Ana Stakes (G3T). She is 2-1-1 in seven 2022 starts. 

The top Canadian-bred contender is Munnyfor Ro  at 6-1. She's run exclusively at Woodbine since July of last year and is looking for her first win since the 2021 Ontario Damsel Stakes. Trained by Kevin Attard, she has earned more than any of the other contenders with $583,322 in career earnings.
