America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. It's the easiest and most fun online horse betting site out there. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

This Weekend’s Bets
Saturday, May 9
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Churchill Downs, Race 8, 4:18 p.m. ET
#9 Tachciello: Tachiello is an improving 3-year-old whom the connections thought of so highly that they tried her in a Grade 2 race last out. In her previous two turf races, showed she has an affinity for the surface and she returns to the grass today.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Churchill Downs, Race 10, 5:20 p.m. ET
#2 Canny Nanny: Canny Nanny came off a long layoff and lost by just a neck in her most recent start. Her races last year would be very competitive in here, and she looks like she should only improve off her last. She is a very square price on the morning line.
#4 Compelling Case: Her name aside, there is a compelling case to be made for her. She has hit the board in 12 of her 14 career starts on turf and ran what could be considered her best race last time out. That race in itself was already good enough to win here, and it looks like she could run even better.
#7 Naples Gold: Out of the same race as Canny Nanny, Naples Gold made a big move on a slow pace last time. If this is the race that proves to be live, which I think it might, Naples Gold and Canny Nanny should run very well in here.
Sunday, May 10
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Belmont Park, Race 5, 3:24 p.m. ET
#10 Elated: This Christophe Clement trainee debuted strongly on the turf last October as Gulfstream Park. Clement is one of the best turf trainers in the world and should have this filly ready to fire.
Longshot Bet (Granny Bet)
Belmont Park, Race 7, 4:26 p.m. ET
#5 Ocala Jim: This horse may not end of being that long of a price, but he’s been off all winter waiting for turf season and gets a nice post and race here. He’s been in slightly stronger races and has run well in them. Off the layoff, he still has no claiming tag, which is a good sign.
