Sconsin takes the Winning Colors Stakes for the second consecutive time at Churchill Downs

Multiple graded stakes winner Sconsin  headlines the field for the $300,000 Dream Supreme Stakes Nov. 13 at Churchill Downs. The six-furlong contest is for fillies and mares ages 3 and up.

The race, the 21st of her career, is expected to be the last for the 5-year-old mare by Include . She has raced more times at Churchill Downs (11) than any other track, winning five, including the Winning Colors Stakes (G3) twice.

Trainer Greg Foley, who trained Sconsin and her dam, the Tiznow mare Sconnie, said Sconsin has been a dream to train.

"If you could draw a picture of a physical specimen of a filly or mare, it's her. She's gorgeous. Big, strong, correct," Foley said.

She is 5-5-2 over 20 career starts with earnings of $990,537. Sconsin also participated in the 2020 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Keeneland, finishing fourth.

Foley would like to see the Lloyd Madison Farms homebred get over the $1 million threshold. And if this is indeed her swan song, he is confident about how the next chapter will play out.

"She'll make a great mom," said Foley, who indicated a mating is planned with standout sire Gun Runner  .

Sconsin comes off a rare four-race losing streak, running a lackluster sixth in the Oct. 8 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2) at Keeneland in her latest outing.

Rounding out the field are Club Car , Coppelia , Joyful Cadence , Palm Cottage , and Sharp Hero .

Sconsin and Joyful Cadence, third in the Thoroughbred Club of America, are likely to be the race favorites.

Also on the card Sunday at Churchill is the featured River City Handicap (G3T) and another six-furlong race, the $300,000 Bet On Sunshine Stakes, in which males are in action.

Another Foley-trained horse, Bango , has had plenty of success under the Twin Spires and will be looking for his ninth win at the Louisville track. A Tamaroak Stable homebred, Bango is by Congrats  and out of the Smart Strike mare Josaka .

The field for the Bet on Sunshine includes millionaire 6-year-old Long Range Toddy , who is looking for his first win of the season. The Dallas Stewart trainee has a couple of grade 1 starts—the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and the Churchill Downs Stakes Presented by Ford (G1)—on his 2022 resume, though he was well beaten in both. He most recently finished a good second in the Oct. 7 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. Owned by Zenith Racing, he is by Take Charge Indy   and out of the Unbridled's Song mare Pleasant Song .

Also in action Sunday is Phoenix third-place finisher Top Gunner . The son of Into Mischief   is trained by John Ortiz and owned by 4 G Racing. Earlier this year, Top Gunner won the St. Matthews Overnight Stakes at Churchill.

Another contender is Miles Ahead . By Competitive Edge   and out of Awesome Again  mare Jennie R, he won the Louisville Thoroughbred Society Stakes last time out. Earlier this year, he claimed the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes. Owned by Jay Em Ess Stable, Miles Ahead is trained by Paul McGee.

Rounding out the field are Kavod , Mucho , Sibelius , Surveillance , Torontotoro , and Williston Way .
