Three-year-old colt Pinehurst , a grade 1 winner and multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire, will be offered for sale on Fasig-Tipton Digital in a one-horse online auction. The son of Twirling Candy will be consigned as a racing/stallion prospect by ELiTE, agent.
Bidding will open Nov. 17 at noon ET. Bidding will close Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. ET.
Following a debut victory at 2 from the rail at Del Mar, Pinehurst captured the Runhappy Del Mar Futurity (G1) by more than four lengths in his second career start.
In his 3-year-old debut, he finished second to the highly regarded Forbidden Kingdom in the San Vicente Stakes (G2), earning a 90 Beyer speed figure and a 10 Ragozin figure. In his next start, he shipped to Saudi Arabia to win the Al Rajhi Bank Saudi Derby (G3). Stretching out to a mile, he was on or near the lead throughout and gamely repelled foes in the stretch.
Pinehurst has earned more than $1.2 million to date.
Pinehurst is by Twirling Candy, a grade 1-winning son of Candy Ride and the sire of seven grade 1 winners and four millionaires. His first dam, Giant Win, is a multiple stakes-producing full sister to graded stakes winner First Passage . First Passage is in turn the dam of graded stakes winner Berned , as well as First to Act , who has placed in the Beldame Stakes (G2) and Turnback the Alarm Handicap (G3) this year. Pinehurst's immediate family also includes grade 1 winners Graeme Hall and Harmony Lodge.
"Pinehurst's credentials make him a highly attractive offering," said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. "He's a grade 1 winner at 2, an international graded stakes winner at 3, and impeccably bred. He should have a broad appeal to racing and stallion operations the world over."
