NYRA to Continue 'Belmont at the Big A' Meet Next Fall

In announcing next year's race dates Nov. 23, the New York Racing Association indicated the 2023 fall meet at Belmont Park will again take place at Aqueduct Racetrack to allow for the reconstruction of the three racing surfaces at Belmont.

The Belmont Park meet was run at Aqueduct this fall as well, with NYRA officials referring to it as the 'Belmont at the Big A' meet. The 28-day Belmont at the Big A meet in 2023 will begin Sept. 14 and continue through Oct. 29 before the traditional Aqueduct fall meet, which runs from Nov. 2 through Dec. 31.

The spring/summer meet at Belmont Park will take place at the historic track as scheduled. That meet covers 40 race days, highlighted by the 155th running of the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) on June 10. The 2023 spring/summer meet will run May 4 through July 9 after the winter/spring meet at Aqueduct.

Saratoga Race Course will host its popular meet next year from July 13 through Labor Day, Sept 4. The Whitney Stakes (G1) is scheduled Aug. 5 and the Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) is Aug. 26.

Fall racing, currently taking place at Aqueduct, will continue there through the end of 2022 before a 44-day winter meet in 2023 from Jan. 1 - March 26.
