Bidding is currently underway in the 2022 Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association Stallion Season Auction, which features seasons from more than 140 stallions highlighted by services from Airdrie Stud, Calumet Farm, Darby Dan Farm, Darley, Gainesway, and Spendthrift Farm.
Prospective buyers can bid through Dec.12 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on stallion seasons from sires including Gainesway's McKinzie , Darby Dan's Dialed In , and Calumet Farm's Keen Ice , by going to www.thoroughlybred.com/sites/itboa. The auction offers dynamic bidding, which will extend the bidding by five minutes if a bid is made within five minutes of the auction's close.
"We expect to see a very competitive auction based on the number and quality of stallion seasons up for bid this year," said ITBOA president Steve Renftle. "The auction opened with services available from almost 150 different stallions standing in Kentucky and 18 other states."
Thoroughlybred website visitors can access the breeding and racing histories of the stallions and also click through to view detailed information provided by the stud farms.
"Proceeds from the 2022 Stallion Season Auction will provide funding for the purses offered in the ITBOA Stallion Stakes races in 2026 and 2027," added Renftle. "We want bidders to check the website often because the list of donated stallion seasons is updated on a daily basis."
