Domestic Spending 'Happy' at Dell Ridge Farm

Domestic Spending  has "settled in nicely" at Dell Ridge Farm in Lexington, according to trainer Chad Brown, after being released from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital.

Brown told BloodHorse Dec. 15 that the multiple grade 1 winner left Rood & Riddle a few days ago and will remain at Dell Ridge as he continues to recover from a pelvic fracture sustained during the Nov. 5 FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile Presented by PDJF (G1T).

Domestic Spending was pulled up around the seven-sixteenths pole by jockey Flavien Prat and was immediately vanned off. He was sent to Rood & Riddle soon afterward.

"We're just really appreciative to all the vets at Rood & Riddle for all their efforts," Brown said. "We're happy to transition him to the farm and he's happy to be there.

"He's doing good," Brown continued. "He still has further recovery to do before we can get him out in the paddock but at least he's really comfortable in a nice, big stall at Dell Ridge Farm, where he's spent some time in the past before on breaks. They know him well over there."

Although mainly on stall rest while he recovers, Brown said that Domestic Spending has begun easing into some light walking and that in time the goal would be to turn him out in the paddock once the pelvic injury has adequately healed.

Campaigned by Klaravich Stables, the 5-year-old Kingman  gelding captured six of nine starts and bankrolled $1,432,100 in earnings.
