Fox Hill Farm announced Jan. 3 via Facebook that it was ending its racing operations.

The Lexington farm run by the late Rick Porter transferred its remaining horse, Royal Ship, to Porter's son, Scott. Scott Porter will operate under the Fox Hollow Racing banner. Siena Farm co-owns the horse with Fox Hollow Racing.

Rick Porter passed away at 80 in June 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

"I always knew that this was going to happen. Rick had always said he was Fox Hill Farm and when he was no longer here, Fox Hill Farm would end. He hoped that his son Scott might want to have some racing stock and follow along somewhat in his footsteps. This is a way to do that," said Victoria Keith, who was Fox Hill Farm vice president and will take on a yet-to-be-determined role with Fox Hollow Racing.

The horse, Royal Ship , is a 7-year-old Midshipman   gelding out of the Val Royal  mare Bela Val . He is 8-2-5 in 20 starts with $690,905 in career earnings. He was bred by Haras Belmont and is trained by Richard Mandella.

Keith said that it feels like Fox Hill Farm will live on with his son, Scott Porter taking on Royal Ship.

"It was an honor to work for Rick," she said.

Royal Ship is a two-time runner in the Pacific Classic Stakes (G1), Hollywood Gold Cup Stakes (G1), and San Diego Handicap (G2).
