First Foal Born by Gainesway Stallion Raging Bull

The Raging Bull filly out of Astolat

Gainesway Farm announced Jan. 7 the first foal by multiple grade 1 winner Raging Bull  . Born Jan. 5, the filly is out of the Camelot  mare Astolat  and was bred by Checkmate Thoroughbreds and Raymond Salvatore.

"We're excited to see the first foals by Raging Bull starting to hit the ground," Gainesway stallion director Ryan Norton said. "There's a lot to like about this stallion, and we look forward to seeing him pass his traits along to his offspring."

By Dark Angel , a perennial leading European sire of sprinters and milers, Raging Bull dominated the turf at 3 after winning his debut at Keeneland. From there, he scored victories in the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G2T) and Saranac Stakes (G3T) at Saratoga Race Course before capping his sophomore campaign with a determined victory in the Hollywood Derby (G1T) at Del Mar.

He made five starts at 4, all in grade 1 company, where he placed in the Manhattan Stakes (G1T), Fourstardave Handicap (G1T), and Woodbine Mile (G1T).

Raging Bull returned at 5 to capture the Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T), stopping the clock in 1:32.73. He also placed in the Maker's Mark Mile (G1T) and Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland.

At 6, Raging Bull kicked off his season with a Maker's Mark Mile score, posting a 106 Beyer Speed Figure in a final time of 1:33.86. He also placed in the 2021 Woodbine Mile for trainer Chad Brown.

Out of the Mr. Greeley  mare Rosa Bonheur , Raging Bull was bred by Dayton Investments Limited and foaled in France. He was campaigned by Peter Brant to a 7-4-4 record from 22 starts, earning $1.7 million. He won or hit the board in nine of 15 grade 1s..

Raging Bull entered stud in 2022 and currently stands for an advertised fee of $10,000 live foal stands and nurses.
