Darley America's second-year stallion Maxfield , winner of the Breeders' Futurity (G1) and Clark Stakes (G1), was represented by his first reported foal Jan. 7 at Kiki Courtelis' Town and Country Farms in Georgetown, Ky.
Bred by Town and Country Farms, the bay filly is out of the stakes-winning, grade 3-placed Commissioner mare Dreamalildreamofu . The dam won the 2021 Twixt Stakes at Laurel Park after running third in the Chicago Stakes (G3) at Arlington International Racecourse and second in the Allaire DuPont Distaff Match Series Stakes (G3) at Pimlico Race Course earlier that same year.
Town and Country CEO Shannon Potter said of the newborn: "We are very happy with our Maxfield foal. She is a pretty filly with all the nice angles you'd expect. She already has class and presence."
Maxfield won his second start in the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland by 5 1/2 lengths and decisively took his career finale in the Clark at Churchill Downs. In between, he won four more graded races, including the Alysheba Stakes (G2) and the Stephen Foster Stakes (G2), both at Churchill Downs. The son of Street Sense also ran second in the Woodward Stakes (G1) and Whitney Stakes (G1) in New York.
A Godolphin homebred, Maxfield retired in 2021 with earnings of $2,001,812.
Maxfield is out of Velvety , a Bernardini half sister to Sky Mesa , from the storied family of Buckpasser and Private Account. His advertised fee this year remains at $40,000, live foal, stands and nurses.
