

Exercise rider Daniel Quintero was killed as a result of a training accident early Jan. 21 at Tampa Bay Downs, according to a Saturday statement from the Oldsmar, Fla. track. Quintero, an aspiring jockey, was 19.
According to the Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee, Quintero was riding a horse for trainer Robert Werneth.
The circumstances of the accident were not immediately disclosed by track officials. Tampa Bay Downs said in its midday statement that further details would be forthcoming.
Tampa Bay Downs had a moment of silence for Quintero at 12:20 p.m. ET before the first post on Saturday's card. The track expressed its condolences to Quintero's family members and friends.
