TERF Awards $12K to Cornell's Veterinary College

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $12,000 to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine to be used for educational purposes.

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine's mission is to advance veterinary medicine at the interface of discovery and application. They promote research at the molecular, cellular, organismal, and population levels to better inform the practice of medicine, public health, and policy. Cornell is dedicated to excellence in research, educational programs, and professional service, and seeks to advance understanding of both animal and human health, foster open collaboration across disciplines and institutional boundaries, and integrate discovery with application. 

In the past, TERF generously awarded grants for need-based scholarships for students interested in pursuing equine medicine. In alignment with their mission to support and promote equine education by supporting organizations that are educating the public on the proper care of horses, TERF continues to offer their financial assistance in 2022. This year's scholarship recipients are Brooke Schiltz and Kaitlin Dullea. Brooke hopes to go into racetrack practice in Florida and Kaitlin expects to begin practicing equine medicine after graduation, with the goal of pursuing a surgical residency. 

Sheila Reakes, Director of Annual Giving at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, states, "The Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine is very grateful for the support TERF is providing to its students, especially those planning to pursue equine medicine. The College is embarking on a concerted effort to help students lower their debt-to-salary ratio, and generous scholarships like these can make a big difference in the lives of new graduates."
