Trend Alert: Get a Jump Start on Spring Fashion

Description:

Now that the Polar Vortex is out of here, we can peel off the endless layers of sweaters, scarves, and coats and breathe a sigh of relief. Wow, it was COLD … bone-chilling cold … even here in New Orleans it was below freezing! Being cooped up inside my home for days while my poor plants froze outside, made me realize how much I’m ready for spring. I am ready for the pops of color, the smell of fresh flowers in the breeze, and of course … all the great spring fashion!
Wanting to get a jump start on upcoming fashion trends, I turned to my friend Tracee Dundas, founder of Fashion Week New Orleans. Tracee and her FWNOLA team work year-round, promoting Gulf Coast designers and making the South a fashion force to be reckoned with. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Tracee as emcee for a few of her fabulous fashion shows, and she is truly a beautiful woman on the inside and out!

“I love the start of a new season, but especially the spring season because it is truly a chance for a great transformation. It's about peeling away the dark colors and layers of winter, just like a budding flower or cocoon emerging to reveal beautiful, vibrant colors, with a fresh perspective on the season!” – Tracee Dundas, Fashion Week NOLA
Tracee’s Top Five Looks For Spring:
1) Freesia - Spring's hottest new color. It's a blazing yellow that will be a spot of sunshine sure to illuminate wardrobes this season. Go big and bold or pair it with one of the other haute colors suggested by Pantone Color Institute for Spring 2014. Either way, you will be right on trend!

2) Art Pop - Fashion has often sought inspiration from art and you will see it in a big way this spring season.  Artistic influence will range from Picasso to street graffiti.  Wear it confidently from head to toe or let it pop as an accessory.

3) Palazzo Pants - The wide-leg trouser will be a breath of fresh air for spring! The loose, flowing and flattering pant works well in warm weather. And, it's a fun look trend that flatters almost every figure!

4) No Make-up Makeup - Of course, a girl has to wear her makeup, but it's all about finding a perfect base. The idea is not weigh down your face, but to embrace a clean, fresh, effortless approach. Looks will include a dewy finish, petal stained lips and soft eyes.

5) Sunnies - The styles are unlimited and a personal preference, but your spring wardrobe is not complete without a cool pair of sunnies. The range of styles will include gold details, pop of color, eccentric designs and lots of LUX. I like to have a variety styles to complement my fashion mood.
