Whence Sires First Winner in Louisiana

Averett Farm's Whence , a multiple-winning sprinter by Scat Daddy, sired his first winner Feb. 28 when his 3-year-old son All of Us  won a five-furlong maiden claimer at Delta Downs by three-quarters of a length in his second start.

All of Us is the first foal out of the winning Half Ours  mare Mine Yours an Ours  and was bred in Louisiana by Gerald Averett Jr. The mare has a 2-year-old by Ocean Knight  and is in foal this year to a full sibling to All of Us.

Trainer Juan Larrosa also owns All of Us in the name of his LJ Racing Stables. The colt made his racing debut Jan. 27 at Delta Downs where he grabbed the lead early but stopped when challenged. He stalked the pace early in his second start and took control of the race three-eighths from the wire.

Whence was bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm out of the unraced Any Given Saturday  daughter St. Croix , who is out of the stakes-placed winner Tiny Decision . The immediate family produced Street Boss , a multiple grade 1 winner, multiple track record-setter (six furlongs in 1:07.55 at Hollywood Park and 1:08.67 at Del Mar) and sire; and multiple grade 1 winner Jack Christopher  .

Whence stands for a $1,000 fee at Averett Farm, near Loranger, La., which also stands Ocean Knight for $2,500.
