Led by the unbeaten Faiza , six top 3-year-old fillies in California meet March 5 at Santa Anita Park in the $100,000 Santa Ysabel Stakes (G3), the track's final prep for the $400,000 Santa Anita Oaks (G2) April 8.
The 1 1/16-mile Santa Ysabel further serves as a qualifying race for the May 5 Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs, with points distributed on a 50-20-15-10-5 basis to eligible horses finishing in the first five finishing positions.
The likely favorite in the Santa Ysabel, Michael Lund Petersen's unbeaten dual graded stakes winner Faiza, is ineligible for Oaks points. Her trainer, Bob Baffert, is barred from running horses at Churchill Downs Inc. tracks through early July due to equine medication positives. Faiza was not nominated to the Kentucky Oaks.

The Santa Ysabel, originally scheduled for Feb. 25, was postponed until Sunday due to heavy rains that canceled racing last week in Southern California.
Other Santa Ysabel contenders include West Coast Stables' Pride of the Nile , a close second to Faiza in the Dec. 10 Starlet Stakes (G1) at Los Alamitos Race Course and the Jan. 28 Las Virgenes Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita; Peter Redekop's comebacking two-time graded winner And Tell Me Nolies , unraced since an eighth in the Nov. 4 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Keeneland, and C R K Stable's late-running stakes winner Justique , third in the Las Virgenes.
