Santa Anita Adds Make-Up Race Date for March 9

Racing at Santa Anita Park
Entries were taken March 5 at Santa Anita Park for an eight-race card Thursday, March 9, with first post time at 12:30 p.m.
With racing cancelled because of heavy rains Feb. 25 and 26, Santa Anita has been granted permission by the California Horse Racing Board to run Thursday, which was not originally scheduled for live racing.
A pair of $72,000 allowance races will highlight Thursday's program. Race six, for fillies and mares bred or sired in California, has attracted a field of seven at six furlongs on the main track. Thursday's seventh race, for older horses at a mile and one quarter over the Camino Real Turf Course, attracted a field of nine.
Santa Anita will offer free general admission and parking, as well as $3 beers and $5 margaritas, on both Thursday and Friday. This card will begin a four-day week of live racing offered through Sunday, March 12.
