Ziconic, the unraced second foal out of 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, has joined his older half brother Cozmic One in the Belmont Park barn of trainer John Sherriffs, according to the official Zenyatta website.
Zenyatta.com reports that 2-year-old Ziconic recently completed early training at Mayberry Farm in Ocala, Fla., and arrived at Belmont over the May 16-17 weekend. Both Ziconic and Cozmic One are homebreds for Jerry and Ann Moss.
“Zenyatta’s colts are now both at Belmont Park with John Shirreffs,” the Zenyatta.com post said. “Ziconic recently graduated from training at Mayberry Farm, where he was galloping every day and picking up speed. He arrived at Belmont over the weekend, joining his older brother Coz.”
The post reported that Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, racing manager for the Mosses, said Ziconic has a wonderful attitude about training and “is one happy horse.”
Ziconic is a chestnut colt by Tapit and Cozmic One is a dark bay or brown 3-year-old son of Bernardini . Cozmic One finished last of six in his career debut April 17 at Santa Anita Park.
