Good Magic Lights Up Day 3 at OBS Under Tack Show

The Good Magic colt Hip 546 clocked an eighth in :09 3/5 to be the fastest time thus far at the OBS March Under Tack Show

The third of four under tack shows for the Ocala Breeders' Sales' March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training saw fast juveniles show their speed March 16 with a Good Magic   colt stopping the clock in :09 3/5 over an eighth to have the quickest time of the day. Central Florida welcomed warm sunshine Thursday, shining on the precocious youngsters throughout the day as they took to the stage.

The Top Line Sales, agent, consigned colt, Hip 546, lit up the first set after he flew across the track in a blistering :09 3/5. Clocking the fastest time over the past three days of works, Don Alberto Corp. bred the April-born colt in Kentucky out of the winning Uncle Mo   mare Hoppa . Bishop Bloodstock snatched the son of the 2010 champion 2-year-old male for $190,000 last year at the Keeneland September Sale.

Thursday saw 15 juveniles breeze a bullet furlong in :09 4/5. 

Four individuals breezed a quarter-mile in :20 4/5 to share the fastest time at the distance during the third day.

  • Hip 469, the Goldencents   filly consigned by Galvan Brothers Equine. The March-born filly was bred in Kentucky by Cherry Valley Farm and out of Fixer Upper , by Distorted Humor. Jhair Galvan picked the chestnut up for $25,000 from the OBS October Sale last year.
  • Hip 526, an Arrogate  filly from the draft of Tom McCrocklin, agent, is out of the More Than Ready grade 2-placed mare Heart of Paradise . She was bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding. Purchasing for Champion Equine, McCrocklin plucked the pinhook from the Keeneland September Sale last year for $250,000.

  • Hip 531, the Florida-bred colt by Valiant Minister   consigned by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, agent. Pro Racing Stable purchased the March-born colt for $45,000 from last year's OBS October Sale. Out of the winning Put It Back mare Her Special Way , he was bred in the sunshine state by Tanma Corp.
  • Hip 558, the Tom McCrocklin, agent, consigned Munnings   filly is out of In Full Compliance , by Smart Strike. Bred in Kentucky by Springhouse Farm, she initially sold during the 2022 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale for $450,000 to McCrocklin for Champion Equine.

The under tack show concludes March 17, beginning at 8 a.m. ET, with Hips 625-833 scheduled to take to the track. The show will be live-streamed via the OBS website at obssales.com and via BloodHorse

Under tack results and videos are posted on the OBS website at obssales.com and can be viewed on kiosks in the breezeway and in the Video Room adjacent to the Horsemen's Lounge. In-room viewing is available at The Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton.

The first of three days of selling begins March 20 at 11 a.m., with Hips 1-278 scheduled to go under the hammer, followed by Hips 279-556 March 21, and Hips 557-833 March 22.
