Pretty Mischievous wins the Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course

As the road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1) narrows, the fight for points towards the May 5 race pushes on with the $400,000 Fair Grounds Oaks (G2), a 1 1/16 mile event for 3-year-old fillies March 25 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots which draws in several top contenders.

Pretty Mischievous , a daughter of Into Mischief   trained by Brendan Walsh, sits second on the Oaks leaderboard with 63 points after a gutsy run last out in the Feb. 18 Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2), where she bested 15th-ranked Miracle  by three-quarters of a length.

The Godolphin homebred began her career at Churchill Downs and won two straight, a maiden special weight and an allowance optional claiming race in the fall of 2022. She placed in her first attempt at stakes company in the Golden Rod Stakes (G2) in her third start and polished off the year with a victory in the Untapable Stakes in New Orleans, 3 1/4 lengths over The Alys Look .

The nearly unbeaten filly will look to knock fellow Godolphin homebred Wet Paint  out of the top spot on the leaderboard after the Fair Grounds Oaks, but she will have to battle Brad Cox trainee The Alys Look for the victory.

Following her runner-up finish in the Untapable, The Alys Look rebounded well in her return to Fair Grounds for the Jan. 21 Silverbulletday Stakes where she was one length in front over Chop Chop  at the wire. Campaigned by Ike and Dawn Thrash, the Connect   filly was a $60,000 purchase by Thrash/Payne Racing from the Lane's End consignment to the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She is currently 10th on the Oaks leaderboard with 24 points.

Gold Standard Racing Stable's Hoosier Philly  is one spot in front in ninth place with 25 points after her victory in the Golden Rod last November at Churchill. Also a daughter of Spendthrift Farm's Into Mischief, the filly is 3-0-1 from four starts including a win her first time out in maiden special weight company and a win in the Rags to Riches Stakes in her second start, both at Churchill.

The Tom Amoss trainee will look to redeem her third-place finish in the Rachel Alexandra last out and collect full points towards the Kentucky Oaks on Saturday.

Completing the field is Jan. 29 Borderplex Stakes winner Christian d'Oro  trained by Steve Asmussen for Brad King, Randy Andrews, Chris Coleman, Jim Cone, Suzanne Kirby, and Lee Lewis, along with allowance optional claiming winner Southlawn  who runs for Robert Masterson under the tutelage of trainer Norm Casse. Neither have made it onto the leaderboard yet.
