Prospective buyers at public auctions often gravitate to the catalog pages of horses produced from stakes-winning dams in the hopes that the mare has passed on some of the genetic traits that contributed to her success on the racetrack. As Ocala Breeders' Sales Company brings the curtain down on its March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training March 22, considerable opportunity remains for prospective buyers to acquire race-ready juveniles out of stakes-winning dams. Fitting the bill are the following hips slated to go through the ring Wednesday during the sale's third and final session.

Hip 681 is a bay colt by WinStar stallion Constitution   produced from the grade 1 stakes-winning Game Plan  mare Mistical Plan  consigned by Jaylan and Kaden Clary's Texas-based Clary Bloodstock.

An earner of $816,790 during her accomplished racing career, Mistical Plan won the 2008 Princess Rooney Handicap (G1) at Calder and the 2007 Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and was multiple stakes-placed for owner J. Paul Reddam and trainer Doug O'Neill. Of her seven foals to race, five are winners, including nine-time winner Delta Outlaw, an earner of $272,603.

Mistical Plan is a half sister to stakes winner Elegant Bel , and this is also the family of grade 1 winner Private Persuasion  and grade 2 winner Windsor Castle . Bred in Kentucky by Blue Heaven Farm, the colt was a $95,000 acquisition for Kaden Clary/Brad Walker out of the Buckland Sales consignment at last year's Keeneland September Sale. He breezed a furlong in :10 flat at the under tack preview.

"We couldn't find a flaw in him (as a yearling)," Kaden Clary said. "We liked everything about him."

Jaylan Clary said of the colt: "When we got him into training, he took to everything really quickly. He was easy to break. He has a Tapit mindset. He is strong-minded but in a good way. We breezed him one time and thought, 'He looks fantastic.' He ran straight and fast. We targeted this sale right after that first breeze at home.

"We have high expectations of him," Jaylan added. "He has filled our expectations as far as his breeze goes. He had a good breeze and a great gallop-out. A lot of people have commented on his breeze, and we are proud of that. He has been shown quite a bit at the barn. We can only hope for the best from here."

Hip 802 is a chestnut filly named Get Ready Gal consigned by Blas Perez Stables, agent. A daughter of Spendthrift Farm stallion Mor Spirit  , the filly is out of the multiple graded stakes-winning More Than Ready  mare Ready's Gal  and is a half sister to grade 3 winner Machen  (by Distorted Humor ) and stakes-placed Mawthooq  (by Distorted Humor ).

The well-traveled Ready's Gal amassed career earnings of $609,959, winning the Lake George Stakes (G3) at Saratoga Race Course, the Hillsborough Stakes (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs, and the Taylor Made Matchmaker Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. All told, Ready's Gal won seven of 17 starts for owner James Scatuorchio and trainer Todd Pletcher.

Bred in Louisiana by J.E. Jumonville Jr. and Bunny Jumonville, Get Ready Gal was bought by George W. Childs for $35,000 from the Jumonville Farms consignment at last year's Texas Summer Yearling Sale at Lone Star Park. At the under tack show, she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5.

"The wind was blowing very hard during her breeze," Blas Perez noted. "My rider told me that he started in lane three and ended up in lane eight. But she is a very nice filly with a great pedigree. She is very forward and has done everything right from the beginning. She's been popular at the barn. She is a solid, forward filly."

Pick View consigns Hip 815, a colt from the initial crop of Spendthrift Farm stallion Omaha Beach   produced from the grade 1-winning Trippi  mare R Heat Lightning , who was also trained by Pletcher.

An earner of $952,800 during her racing career, R Heat Lightning won the 2010 Spinaway Stakes (G1) at Saratoga and captured the Davona Dale Stakes (G2) and the Gulfstream Oaks (G2) at Gulfstream Park the following season for owner E. Paul Robsham Stables.

"He had a really good winter. We're liking what we see," said Pick View's Joe Pickerell. "He is out of a mare who was early. You have to be excited about the colt with his dam winning the Spinaway early on and then combined with Omaha Beach doing what he did (on the racetrack). This is a colt that could be any kind of horse.

"He will be an early type," Pickerrell continued. "He has a lot of class and is very forward in his training. He is a horse that is easy to get along with. I feel like wherever he ends up, he will be an asset to their program.

A half brother to Aster Pegasus (by Giant's Causeway ), a group winner in Japan, the chestnut colt was bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings. He was bought as a yearling by Pick View for $250,000 from the Eaton Sales, agent for Stonestreet Bred and Raised consignment at last year's Keeneland September Sale. He breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the under tack preview.

"We stepped up and spent a little bit on him," Pickerell said. "He checked all the boxes. We have had good luck with freshman sires, and he is out of an exceptional mare, which can be a rarity at 2-year-old sales. He had everything: the pedigree and the physicals. He looked like a horse that could handle the 2-year-old sale process. He has met those expectations, and he has been well received here.

"With that pedigree, there is some international interest as well," Pickerrell added. "We think he is a dirt horse, and there is a definite demand for dirt colts. He fits a lot of people's programs, so we're excited."

The third and final session of the OBS March Sale begins Wednesday at 11 a.m.
