Description:

Glen Hill Farm's grade II winner Diversy Harbor has died from an injury sustained in the April 18 Santa Barbara Handicap (gr. IIIT), Glen Hill president Craig Bernick said May 19 via Twitter.

The 4-year-old daughter of Curlin  Motokiks, by Storm Cat, trailed in the early stages and was pulled up by jockey Gary Stevens coming out of the final turn in the 1 1/4-mile race at Santa Anita Park. Subsequent X-rays revealed both sesamoids were broken. Surgery was performed two days later at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Santa Barbara, Calif. and a plate and screws were inserted to connect the canon bone to the pastern, but ultimately the filly succumbed to her injury.

"Heavy hearted to say Diversy Harbor didn't make it," Bernick said. "She was a very good filly & a great patient, her good foot rotated too much & she would have suffered if she had been around any longer."

Diversy Harbor posted a 3-4-1 record from 12 starts that includes her victory in the Buena Vista Stakes (gr. IIT) Feb. 16 and the 2014 China Doll Stakes, both at Santa Anita Park for trainer Tom Proctor. Also on her resume is a runner-up finish in the 2014 American Oaks (gr. IT) and four other placings in graded stakes. She bankrolled $377,690 in two seasons.

Bred in Kentucky by Barbara Hunter, Diversy Harbor was a half sister to multiple grade III winners Keertana and Snow Top Mountain, the latter grade I-placed.
