Practical Move wins the San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Several prospects targeting the April 8 $750,000 Santa Anita Derby (G1) worked March 26 at Santa Anita Park, including Practical Move , Geaux Rocket Ride , and Skinner , the top-three finishers from the San Felipe Stakes (G2).

Trainer Tim Yakteen clocked Practical Move working five furlongs in :59 1/5 with a six-furlong gallop-out completed in 1:12.

"Straightforward drill, looked good," Yakteen said. "He was just cruising like he always does. It makes my job easier."

Geaux Rocket Ride, who made his stakes and two-turn debut in the San Felipe, worked six furlongs for trainer Richard Mandella. He completed the move in 1:13.

"The rockets are ready to fire," Mandella said.

Skinner drilled six furlongs in 1:14 for trainer John Shirreffs.

Also working from the Yakteen barn were National Treasure , Reincarnate , and Fort Bragg . National Treasure clocked six furlongs in 1:12 1/5. The colt was scratched as the morning-line favorite in the San Felipe due to a bruised foot. Last week, Yakteen said National Treasure would run in either the Santa Anita Derby or Blue Grass Stakes (G1) at Keeneland, also on April 8.

Sham Stakes (G3) victor Reincarnate drilled five furlongs in :59 4/5 while Fort Bragg worked the same distance in :59 2/5. Fort Bragg was scratched out of the March 26 Sunland Derby (G3) and entered in the Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park on April 1. Reincarnate is entered in the Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park, also on April 1.
