With a little over five months until the 2015 Retired Racehorse Project’s (RRP) Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium on Oct 23 – 25, the organization has announced that tickets for the event are now on sale.
Attracting 350 Thoroughbreds who have only been off the track for a short time, the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover is taking over the Kentucky Horse Park for an event that will have 10 different riding disciplines from dressage to ranch work during the three day event.
“We [met with people Rolex weekend] who are going to be volunteers organizing the different disciplines to create 10 horse shows all in one weekend,” said RRP’s President Steuart Pittman recently. “Getting designated as an official Breeders’ Cup event was a big deal so that will help and we have some good sponsors that are lining up … we’re getting a lot of support for the racing industry in a big way.”
General admission for all of Friday and Saturday as well as Sunday morning is free while tickets for the final event of the weekend, where the top three scorers from each discipline will compete, is $15. Those in “The Finale” will be competing for a $5,000 purse for the winner of each discipline while the overall “America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred” will be named from those 10 winners and received $10,000.
Other events happening during the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium include 10 seminars on multiple topics, with tickets allowing visitors to attend all the seminars selling for $25. The launch party for Off-Track Thoroughbred Magazine, a collaboration between RRP and The Horse Media Group, will be held on the opening night of the event with tickets selling for $25 per person.
In addition to the scheduled events, many of the Makeover participants will be offered for sale and are available for potential buyers to look at for free throughout the weekend. RRP will be listing available horses in an online catalog and buyers will have the opportunity to look at each horse, talk to the sellers and have a pre-purchase exam done on horses while they are on the grounds.
Tickets for each area of the event can be purchased here with a discount given to those who become an RRP Founding Member.
