Racing at Laurel Park

The Maryland Jockey Club canceled racing April 8 at Laurel Park out of an abundance of caution to do a full evaluation of the racing surfaces.

Laurel Park's main track has required renovation and maintenance in recent years, with 1/ST Racing, the track's operators, bringing in consultants to evaluate the surface at various times. Last fall, clay was added to the surface to bring its content up to 2%.

Racing was not scheduled on Easter, April 8. Racing will resume with an eight-race program April 13, including the first race of the 2023 turf season.
