Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 575 entries for its upcoming Midlantic 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, to be held May 22-23, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md.

"Buyers will be presented with the strongest Midlantic catalog in recent memory when they arrive in Timonium this year," said Midlantic sales director Paget Bennett. "We purposefully tightened up our numbers just a bit, while adding increased quality. We have strong sire power, quality individuals, and from what I hear from our consignors, horses that have shown very promising ability in their early training."

This year's front catalog cover features undefeated grade 1 winner and multiple graded stakes-winning 3-year-old filly Faiza , as well as grade 1 winners Switzerland  and Beyond Brilliant . The catalog's back cover features Kentucky Oaks (G1) hopeful Mimi Kakushi , winner of this year's U.A.E. Oaks (G3); as well as recent graded stakes winners Classy Edition , Informative , Ridin With Biden , and That's Right .

"Fasig-Tipton Midlantic is the only 2-year-old sale venue on the East Coast at which horses breeze over a dirt surface," continued Bennett. "Buyers have confidence in what they purchase off our track, and that confidence is validated by the sale's ever-growing list of prominent graduates."

The under tack show will be held over three sessions, May 16-18. Each under tack show session will begin at 8:00 a.m. ET. The 148th Preakness Stakes (G1) will be held at nearby Pimlico Race Course May 20, and the sale will follow May 22 and 23. Each sale session will begin at 11 a.m.

Last year Gary Young, agent for Zedan Racing, went to $3,550,000 to acquire the lightning-fast Bernardini colt out of G Note from Sequel Bloodstock, agent for Chester and Mary Broman. The colt, then named Berning Remarks, was bred in New York by the Bromans and breezed the fastest eighth-mile in :09 4/5 for the entire under tack show. Renamed Hejazi , the colt was third best in the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) in his third effort at 2. This year he placed in the Lafayette Stakes on opening day at Keeneland for trainer Bob Baffert.

Fasig-Tipton reported 391 juveniles changed hands of the 482 on offer during last year's edition of the Maryland Sale for gross receipts of $37,297,700, suitable for an average price of $95,391 and a median of $47,000. Ninety-one horses failed to attain their reserve, representing an RNA rate of 18.9%.

The catalog may now be viewed online and will also be available via the equineline sales catalog app. Print catalogs will be available beginning April 21.

Online bidding and phone bidding services will be available.
