Brickyard Ride wins the 2022 Kona Gold Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Brickyard Ride  returns to run in the April 22 $100,000 Kona Gold Stakes (G3), looking to win the 6 1/2-furlong contest at Santa Anita Park for the second year in a row.

The Alfred Pais homebred had a short but torrid 2022, going 4-0-0 from five starts. But after running a distant fifth in the Triple Bend Stakes (G2), the son of Clubhouse Ride  took a nine-month break.

Having not raced exclusively on the dirt, 6-year-old Brickyard Ride returned last month in the San Simeon Stakes (G3T), finishing third.

Trained by Craig Lewis, Saturday's race will be the third time in the Kona Gold for Brickyard Ride. He finished second in 2021.

Trained by Doug O'Neill, Anarchist  comes into the race having finished second by 2 1/4 lengths to Motorious  but a half length ahead of Brickyard Ride in the San Simeon.

The 8-year-old Good Journey gelding is making his graded stakes debut.
