Anamoe Retired to Darley Australia

Anamoe, Godolphin's most successful horse ever at group 1 level, will retire to stud, becoming a Darley stallion for the 2023 season.

The 4-year-old, who enjoyed a record nine group 1 victories, will join the roster at Kelvinside in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Over three consecutive seasons, Anamoe was a brilliant flagbearer for Team Godolphin and Australia's head trainer, James Cummings, winning 14 (plus eight placings) of his 25 starts and earning prize money of more than AU$12 million (US$7,710,095).

Anamoe retires from racing as only the second Australian horse in more than 20 years to win a group 1 at 2, 3, and 4.

As a juvenile, he placed in the Blue Diamond (G1) and Golden Slipper Stakes (G1) before winning the Sires' Produce Stakes (G1) by an impressive three lengths.

At 3, he won the Caulfield Guineas (G1) before taking the Rosehill Guineas (G1) by more than six lengths ahead of a controversial second place in the Cox Plate (G1) when he suffered some interference from the winner.

Such performances captured the attention of racing enthusiasts worldwide and the champion 3-year-old continued his rich vein of form at 4, winning six group 1 races from 1,400m to 2,040m—including last year's Cox Plate.
