Day 5 of OBS Under Tack Shows Speed

The fifth session of under tack previews on April 20 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training saw six juveniles breeze a furlong in :09 4/5. Four horses moved a quarter mile in :21.

The six juveniles to breeze an eighth mile in :09 4/5 include:

  • Hip 710, an Enticed   filly consigned by New Horizons Bloodstock, out of the winning Empire Maker mare Mooji's Empire . Next week will be the first trip through the sales ring for the April-born filly bred in Florida by CESA Farm and New Horizon Farm.
  • Hip 719, the Randy Miles, agent, consigned filly by Race Day . Bred in Kentucky by Nirvana Farm, the filly out of Morning Memo , who has produced a winner with her second foal, Harold's Cloud , by Cloud Computing  . Further down the page, under the second dam, are the likes of grade 2 winner and grade 1-placed Memorette .
  • Hip 728, the Maximus Mischief   half sister to Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes winner It's High Time , offered by Randy Miles, agent. The February-born filly out of My Rolex  was bred in the sunshine state by Tracy Pinchin and from the family of grade 1 winner Black Seventeen . She RNA'd last year during the OBS October Select and Open Sale of Yearlings at $55,000.
  • Hip 785, the dark bay or brown filly by Bolt d'Oro   is the first foal out of the unraced Into Mischief mare Petunia . Consigned by Two Oaks Equine, the filly sold as a yearling last year during the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $20,000 to VC Corp. She was bred in Kentucky by Jumping Jack Racing.
  • Hip 793, the Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, agent, consigned colt by leading sire Into Mischief  . The bay is out of the winning Fusaichi Pegasus mare Pisa No Tiffany, from the family of Tap Your Heels, dam of prolific sire Tapit  . Alan Keaveny bred the juvenile in Kentucky and sold him during the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in 2021 for $350,000 to Hartley/DeRenzo.
  • Hip 845, a May-born Army Mule   colt consigned by Pick View, agent. Bred in Kentucky by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings and Jared Burdine, the colt initially sold during the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale for $40,000 to Norevale Farm. Eight months later, at the September Sale, the chestnut sold for $110,000 to Gracie Bloodstock, agent for Anthony Tate. The colt is out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Raging Atlantic  and comes from the family of grade 2-placed, stakes-winning Angel Trumpet , producer of grade 1-placed, stakes-winning Seven Trumpets  and stakes-placed Black Bear .

Four juveniles breezed the co-fastest quarter mile in :21 Thursday.

  • Hip 786, the Coastal Equine (Jesse Hoppel), agent, consigned Blame   colt, named I'lltaketheblame. The colt is a half sibling to champion imported 2-year-old male in Puerto Rico Derek Adrian and grade 3 winner Jalen Journey . Dennis Edward Foster bred the colt out of Petunia Face , by Congrats , in Florida. Hoppel picked the pinhook up last year during the OBS October Sale for $70,000.
  • Hip 814, a Hard Spun   filly out of Washington Oaks winner Princessof the Nyl . Consigned by Tom McCrocklin, agent, the chestnut is the second foal from the mare and was bred in Kentucky by Brookdale Farm and Chervenell Thoroughbreds. Purchasing as agent, McCrocklin scooped the filly up at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Sale last year for $105,000.
  • Hip 847, an Irish import by Cable Bay  and half sibling to French stakes winner Prince Lancelot , by Sir Prancealot  . The bay colt out of Rainbow Vale  was bred overseas by Skymarc Farm and most recently sold to Ken Condon during Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for $151,332.
  • Hip 868, an imported colt by No Nay Never , consigned by Karl Keegan's Lucan Bloodstock. The colt was bred in Ireland by Messengale Breeders and is out of the winning Oasis Dream  mare Revered , a full sister to Oak Tree Stakes (G3) winner Visit . His Zamindar sibling, Commemorative , won the Autumn Stakes (G3) at Newmarket. While the colt is well-traveled, this will be his first trip through the sales ring.

The under tack show continues Friday at 8 a.m. ET, with Hips 876-1050 scheduled to take to the track. The show will be live-streamed via the OBS website at obssales.com and BloodHorse. The breeze show concludes April 22.

Under tack results and videos are posted on the OBS website and can be viewed on kiosks in the breezeway and the Video Room adjacent to the Horsemen's Lounge. In-room viewing is available at The Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton.

The first of four days of selling begins April 25 at 10:30 a.m., with Hips 1-306 scheduled to go under the hammer, followed by Hips 307-612 April 26, Hips 613-918 April 27, and Hips 919-1222 April 28.
