Description:

Three-time leading Monmouth Park jockey Elvis Trujillo will be headed back to the New Jersey track May 30, relocating from Southern California, where he's been riding full-time for about a year.

"He wanted to be back at the Jersey Shore," said Danny Mellul, who will be Trujillo's agent at Monmouth.  "He had great success in California, but missed New Jersey. He'll be back this week and ride next Saturday."

The rider has won four graded stakes in 2015, highlighted by the Santa Monica (gr. II) aboard Sam's Sister Jan. 19 at Santa Anita Park. Trujillo won his 2,000th career race at Santa Anita May 9, and through 17 racing days, he had five wins from 48 mounts at the track's spring meet. He also finished second in the jockey standings at Del Mar's 2014 fall meet.

A 31-year-old native of Panama City, Panama, Trujillo has won several of Monmouth's top stakes races, including the 2009 United Nations (gr. I) atop Presious Passion.
