Latest Changes for Kentucky Derby Day

After a postcard, sunny Kentucky Oaks Day, the weather is ideal for Kentucky Derby Day as well.

The National Weather Service forecasts partly sunny skies with a high near 80 and winds of 6 to 10 mph.

The dirt track is fast and the turf, racing in lane 1, is firm.

The scratches published by Churchill Downs as of 9 a.m. are:

Race 5: 6 Sister Lou Ann and 8 Freedom Speaks 

Race 6: 4 Perfect Flight 

Race 7: 5 Necker Island , 7 Nothing Better , and 13 Artemus Citylimits 

Race 8: 4 Midnight Rising 

Race 9: 12 Funtastic Again  and 15 Wadsworth  (also eligible)

Race 10: 1 White Abarrio  and 2 C Z Rocket 

Race 11: 2 Master Piece  and 4 Steady On 

Race 12 (the Kentucky Derby: 9 Skinner , 10 Practical Move , 15 Forte , 19 Lord Miles , and 20 Continuar

Besides the scratch of Forte from the Derby, the other change in the race announced Saturday morning is Irad Ortiz Jr., who had been scheduled to ride Forte, being named on also eligible Cyclone Mischief .
